official ballot from the names of the qualified candidates sub-
mitted to them and no names shall be printed upon said ballot
by said supervisors except such as shall be presented to them
by petition as above set out.

A facsimile of the official ballot shall be published in one
or more newspapers published in the Town of Chestertown,
at least once before election. The official ballot shall be of
substantial plain paper of uniform size, 'not less than four
inches wide, and upon such ballot shall appear the name or
names of all candidates for Mayor arranged alphabetically,
and immediately following1 the word "For Mayor" which shall
be printed on said ballot, and preceding the names of the
candidates shall be printed in black ink "Vote for one by
marking a cross (X) mark on that space which is opposite the
name of the candidate to be voted for, " and a black line shall
be printed immediately under the name of each candidate ex-
tending to a square opposite the name of the candidate, and
immediately following the name of the candidate; and imme-
diately under the name of the candidate or candidates for
Mayor shall be printed a black line extending to a square on
which the voter may insert in writing the name of a candidate
for Mayor, if he so desires, which name may not already be
printed on the ballot, and also on such ballot shall appear the
name or names of the candidate or candidates for Councilmen
arranged alphabetically, and immediately following the words
"For Councilman, " shall be printed on said ballot, and pre-
ceding the name or names of the candidate or candidates shall
be plainly printed in black ink a direction to the voters "Vote
for one by making a cross (X) mark in that square which is
opposite the name of the candidate to be voted for, " and a black
line shall be printed immediately under the name of each
candidate extending to a square opposite the name of the
candidate and immediately under the names of the candidates
or candidate there shall be printed a black line extending to
a square on which the voter may insert in writing the name of
a candidate for Councilman, if he so desires, which name may
not already be printed on the ballot.

There shall be a separate ballot for each ward, and the
ballots of no two wards shall be printed on the same color
paper.

92. The persons appointed to serve as judge and clerk
shall appear before a justice of the peace for Kent County,
and take an oath "That he will faithfully and impartially
