CHAPTER 531.
AN ACT to add three new sections to Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes and
Punishments" sub-title "Sabbath Breaking, " said new sec-
tions to be known as Sections 483A, 483B and 483C and to
follow immediately after Section 483 of said Article, to per-
mit the playing of baseball within the corporate limits of
the City of Hagerstown on Sunday whether the same be
played for recreation or for profit.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That three new sections be and they are hereby
added to Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924
Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments, " sub-title "Sabbath
Breaking, " said new sections to be known as Sections 483A,
483B and 4830, to follow immediately after Section 483 of
said Article, and. to read as follows:
483A. Nothing contained in Section 483 of this Article,
however, shall be construed as prohibiting, penalizing or mak-
ing unlawful the playing, within the corporate limits of the
City of Hagerstown, on the first day of the week, commonly
called Sunday, of games of baseball by any person or persons
who engage therein as an occupation, pursuit or business,
whether the same be played for recreation or admission to
said games be charged; provided, however, that it shall be
unlawful for any person or persons who engage therein as an
occupation, pursuit or business to play said games of baseball
on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday, within
the corporate limits of the City of Hagerstown, except between
the hours of two P. M. and five P. M., or to play said games
of baseball within one hundred (100) yards of any existing
permanent church edifice where religious services are being
held.
483B. Nothing contained in said Section 483 shall be con-
strued as prohibiting, penalizing or making unlawful the offi-
ciating at or assisting in the conduct of the playing of games
of baseball within the corporate limits of the City of Hagers-
town on the first day of the week, commonly called Sunday,
of an umpire, manager, ground keeper, gate keeper, ticket
seller, guard or any other attendant, although such person or
persons so officiating at said games of baseball or assisting in
