364'. The Treasurer shall receive as compensation for his
services as Treasurer and as clerk to the County Commissioners
an annual salary of $2, 500 payable by Somerset County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1931.

CHAPTER 408.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County, " sub-title "Hagerstown, " sub-heading
"Condemnation, " said new section to be known as Section
45 8A and to follow immediately after Section 458 of said
Article, authorizing the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown
to condemn private property either within or without the
limits of said city for the extension or enlargement of the
sewerage and drainage systems.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Washington County, " sub-title "Hagers-
town, " sub-heading "Condemnation, " said new section to be
known as Section 458A, to follow immediately after Section
458 of said Article, and to read as follows:

458. The Mayor and Council of Hagerstown are hereby
empowered and authorized to exercise the right of eminent
domain and to condemn private property within or without
the limits of said city, for the extension or enlargement of its
sewerage and drainage systems.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and being
passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of
all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the Gen-
eral Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its
passage.
