County, " sub-title "Rock Hall, " be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

337. The legal voters of Rock Hall who have resided
within the corporate limits six months preceding an elec-
tion, and who are assessed for taxes on real or personal
property to the amount of one hundred dollars or more,
and all persons who own and are assessed for taxes or any
interest in real or personal estate in said town to the
value of one hundred dollars or over, of the age of twenty-
one years and upwards, shall elect by ballot, on the first
Saturday of May, 1936, and each year thereafter one
councilman of the said town of Rock Hall who shall be
a qualified voter of said town, and above twenty-one
years of age, and shall receive a salary of one
hundred dollars per annum payable in equal instalments
semi-annually. Of the three councilmen elected on the first
Saturday in May, 1935, one shall be elected for a term of
one year, one for a term of two years and one for a term
of three years, and their successors shall be elected for a
term of three years each. A majority of said councilmen
shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business,
The councilmen shall meet on the third Saturday in May
of each year, or as soon after said date as possible, and take
the oath of office to support and maintain the Constitution
and laws of the State of Maryland, and to perform the
duties of their offices as councilmen of Rock Hall to the
best of their ability, without fear, favor, affection or par-
tiality. They shall choose one of their number as their
president, who shall also act as Mayor and executive officer
of the said town of Rock Hall. The said councilmen shall
also choose, not necessarily from among their own number,
a secretary and treasurer, who shall continue in office dur-
ing the term for which said councilmen are elected, unless
sooner removed for cause of said councilmen, and the said
councilmen shall require of said treasurer a bond in the
penalty to be by them fixed, conditioned upon the faithful
discharge of his duties as such treasurer. In case of the
absence of the presiding officer from any meeting of said
councilmen, they may choose from among their number a
president pro tem, who shall preside at such meeting. The
treasurer shall in no case pay out any money except upon
the written order of the president or executive officer of
the corporation, and every officer of the corporation shall
promptly, upon the termination of his term of office, turn
over to his successor all property or money pertaining to
his office promptly, on demand by such successor. All rec-
