SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and being passed upon a Yea and Nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 254.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
8, 12 and 12 A of Article 78B of the Code of Public General
Laws of; Maryland, title "Racing Commission, " said
amendments reducing the daily tax paid by race tracks
from Six Thousand Dollars ($6, 000. 00) to One Thousand
Dollars ($1, 000. 00) per day and increasing the tax
on sums wagered on races from one (1) per cent, to two
and one-half (2 1/2) per cent; also making the Act
an emergency measure to take effect from the date of
its passage.

CHAPTER 255.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
13 of Article 78B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Racing Commission, " providing
that the Cumberland Fair Association, Inc., shall be en-
titled to conduct one race meeting each year for a period
of ten days.
