the remainder of this Act, but shall be confined in its oper-
ation to the section, paragraph, clause, sentence or part
thereof directly involved in the controversy in which such
judgments shall have been rendered. If any exemption
granted by this Act shall be declared invalid, the article or
articles sought to be exempted shall be subject to taxation
as fully as if said exemption had not been contained in this
Act.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an Emergency Law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and being passed upon a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of the members elected to the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date
of passage.

CHAPTER 189.
AN ACT to give the permission and sanction of the General
Assembly of Maryland to the United States of America
for the erection of a bridge across the Potomac River at
Great Falls, Maryland, at such point as they may deem
desirable.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the permission and sanction of the State
of Maryland be and the same is hereby given to the United
States of America for the erection of a bridge across the
Potomac River at Great Falls, Maryland, at such point as
may be deemed desirable; provided, however, that the
entire cost and expense of the same be borne by the United
States.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Secretary
of State be and he is hereby ordered and directed to send a
certified copy of this Act to the Governor of the State of
Virginia, to the President of the United States and to the
proper Congressional Committees.
SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.
