CHAPTER 139.

AN ACT to add to a new section to Article 23 of the Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland, (1929 Supplement),
entitled "Corporations, " sub-title "Building or Home-
stead Associations, " said new sections to follow imme-
diately after Section 171A, to be known as Section 171B,
limiting the manner in which unredeemed shares in
building and homestead associations may be redeemed,
and declaring the continuing existence of an emergency
in relation to the financial affairs of such building and
homestead associations.

CHAPTER 140.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
69 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924
Edition), title "Elections, " sub-title "Ballots and Ballot-
Boxes, " providing that in Worcester County the polls
shall open at 7 A. M.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 69 of Article 33 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Elections, " sub-
title "Ballots and Ballot-Boxes, " be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

69. The polling places shall be opened by the Judges
of election at 6 o'clock A. M. in the City of Baltimore, and
shall be kept open until 5 o'clock P. M. of the same day,
at which time the polls shall be closed, and in the counties
the polling places shall be opened at 7 A. M. and shall be
kept open until 7 P. M., at which time the polls shall be
closed; except that in Garrett, Washington, Carroll, Mont-
gomery, Calvert, Dorchester and Delmar District of
Wicomico, the polling places shall be open at six o'clock
A. M., and in Talbot County the polling places shall not be
opened until 8 A. M. If any judge or clerk shall not be
present at the expiration of fifteen minutes after the time
for opening the polls the judge of judges present shall fill
the place of the absent judge or clerk by appointing in his
stead a person of the same political party as the absentee.
One of the judges shall administer to such substitute the
