SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new Section be, and it is hereby added
to Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
(1930 Edition), title "Washington County," sub-title,
"Boonsboro," said new Section to be known as 82A to
follow immediately after Section 82 of said Article, and to
read as follows:
82A. Whenever the amount of taxes collected in the
Town of Boonsboro shall be insufficient for the payment
of current expenses, the payment of interest on its exist-
ing indebtedness or the retirement thereof, and for other
municipal expenses, the Burgess and Council of Boons-
boro are hereby authorized and empowered to borrow
on the faith and credit of the said Town of Boonsboro
for the payment of current expenses, the payment of in-
terest on its existing indebtedness or the retirement
thereof, and for other municipal expenditures, for a pe-
riod of time not to exceed one year, a sum or sums of
money not to exceed twenty-five hundred ($2,500.00) dol-
lars in aggregate, in any one year and to issue for said
indebtedness the note or notes of the Burgess and Council
of Boonsboro, said note or notes to be signed by the Bur-
gess of said Boonsboro and counter-signed by the Clerk
of the Burgess and Council of Boonsboro, and to bear
interest from the date of its issue.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an Emergency Law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
