dollars ($500. 00) as hereinbefore provided for the Police
Justice, with the same conditions, uses and purposes; and
shall receive the same pro rata compensation as is pro-
vided herein for the Police Justice, the same to be paid
by the County Commissioners and deducted from the sal-
ary of the said Police Justice. And in the event of death,
removal, resignation or permanent disability of said Police
Justice, the Governor shall appoint and designate some
other person possessing the necessary qualifications for
the residue of -said term for which said Police Justice had
been appointed, with the same salary and with the same
duties and obligations as required herein of the Police
Justice.
174K. In all criminal prosecutions or proceedings be-
fore said Police Justice in which he has jurisdiction, it
shall be his duty in event of conviction to impose the fine
or fines and punishment prescribed in such case by the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, if the same
be in violation of a State Law, or that prescribed by the
Public Local Law, if it be in violation of a public local
law, or that prescribed by ordinance of any incorporated
town in Calvert County if the same be in violation of any
such ordinance. The said Police Justice shall have the
right to issue summons for the attendance of any witness
or witnesses in any case under consideration by him, and
upon |; he failure of any person to attend before him in
response to summons at the time and place mentioned in
said summons, any such person or persons shall be liable
in the discretion of the Police Justice to a fine not ex-
ceeding five dollars ($5) for such non-attendance in re-
sponse to such summons, which fine shall be collected as
other fines are collected, and default of payment thereof,
by commitment to the Calvert County Jail for a period
not exceeding five days, provided the proof shows that a
written or printed notice of said summons was duly served
upon the said witness in person by some one duly author-
ized under the law to summons witnesses in such cases.
That the said Police Justice shall have the right to preserve
order and decorum while sitting in his office in discharge
of his duties, and shall have the right to punish any breach
of order or decorum committed in his presence when act-
ing in his capacity as Police Justice by a fine not exceed-
ing ten dollars ($10), to be collected as other fines are col-
lected and in default of payment thereof, by commitment
to th6 Calvert County Jail for a period not exceeding ten
days, provided in all cases where a fine is imposed under
