property within a certain area of the Ninth Election
District of Montgomery County, said area being desig-
nated and known as The Sanitary Zone; and not more
than five cents (5) on each $100. 00 of the assessable
value of the real and personal property lying and being
in the Ninth Election District of Montgomery County
but not within the above mentioned Sanitary Zone, for
the purpose of maintaining and operating the fire de-
partment known as The Gaithersburg-Washington Grove
Fire Department, Inc., within the said certain area
herein definitely defined; and providing for the manner
in which the number of cents on each $100. 00 of the
assessable value of the real and personal property within
said certain defined area to be levied each year may be
determined, and authorizing the tax collecting authori-
ties for said County to pay over to the Treasurer of the
Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department, Inc.,
its successor or successors, the tax so levied and collected
for disbursements for the said purposes of maintaining
and operating the said fire department in said area, and
providing for a Commission to manage the finances of
said Fire Department.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That for the purpose of providing funds with
which to maintain and operate a fire department within
the area designated and known as the Ninth Election Dis-
trict of Montgomery County, the County Commissioners of
Montgomery County are hereby authorized and empowered
to levy annually against all of the assessable real and per-
sonal property within the said Ninth Election District a
tax sufficient, but not to exceed ten cents (10c) on each
$100 of assessable real and personal property within the
area known and designated as the Sanitary Zone and not
exceeding five cents (5c) on the assessable real and per-
sonal property lying and being in the said Ninth Election
District but not in the said Sanitary Zone, to pay the an-
nual requirements or expenditures necessary to maintain
and operate the said fire department, now known as the
Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Department, Inc., in-
cluding payment of encumbrance on real estate owned or
leased, by said fire department. The said tax shall be de-
termined, levied, collected and paid over in the following
manner: At least thirty days before the tax levying period
of each year the County Commissioners of said County may
certify to the Gaithersburg-Washington Grove Fire Depart-
ment, Inc., its successor or successors, the whole valuation
