SEC. "2. And be it further enacted, That in the event
that any court of competent jurisdiction should declare
any section or part of this Act to be invalid, the remain-
der of the Act shall not be invalidated thereby, but shall
remain in full force and effect.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That any public
general laws or public local laws, or parts of such laws,
inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of
such inconsistency.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1st, 1936.

CHAPTER 140.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Caro-
line County to sell or lease the County Alms House
Farm and properties.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Caroline
County be and they are hereby authorized and empowered
to sell or lease the County Alms House Farm and proper-
ties, and in case of sale to give a good and sufficient deed
for said farm and properties so sold. The proceeds from
said sale or any money received in case the said proper-
ties are leased shall be paid over to the County Treasurer
of Caroline County as a part of the general funds of the
County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed upon a yea and nay vote, sup^
ported by three-fifths of all the members elected to each
of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
