quire him to maintain an office within the Town of
Takoma Park and providing for his compensation in lieu
of fees.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 16 of the Code of Public Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Montgomery County, " sub-title "Police
Justice, " said new section to be known as Section 495-A,
to follow immediately after Section 495 of said Article,
and to read as follows:

495-A. The Governor is hereby authorized, empow-
ered and directed by and with the advice and consent of
the Senate of the State of Maryland, to biennially appoint
a Justice of the Peace for the 13th Election District, at
large, of Montgomery County, and to designate said Jus-
tice of the Peace, appointed by the provisions of this Act as
Police Justice.

The Justice of the Peace, appointed by virtue of this
Act shall be a resident of the 13th Election District of
Montgomery County, and shall maintain an office in some
suitable place in the Town of Takoma Park, Montgomery
County. On the first day of each month following his ap-
pointment he shall account for and pay over to the Board
of County Commissioners of Montgomery County one-half
of all fees, collected by him under the provisions of Section
208 of Article 56 of the Public General Laws of Maryland
for violations of the State Motor Vehicle Law occurring
within the portion of the Thirteenth Election District of
Montgomery County within the corporate limits of the
Town of Takoma Park and the other one-half of the Town
of Takoma Park. In like manner on the first day of each
month following his appointment he shall account for and
pay over to the said Town of Takoma Park all fees, fines,
penalties, forfeitures and costs received by or imposed by
him on account of all civil and criminal actions arising
within that portion of the said Thirteenth Election District
of Montgomery County within the corporate limits of the
Town of Takoma Park not designated by law to be other-
wise paid; all other fees, fines, penalties, forfeitures and
costs shall in like manner be paid to the County Commis-
sioners for said Montgomery County.

Before entering upon the duties of his office, he shall
give bond to the State of Maryland, in the penalty of One
Thousand Dollars, with a surety, or sureties, to be ap-
