to be prepared, containing the names of registered voters
transcribed from the original books. One set of books shall
contain the names of voters whose surnames begin with
the letter "A" down to and including those whose sur-
names begin with the letter "J. " The other set of books
shall contain the names of registered voters whose sur-
names begin with the letter "K, " down to and including
those whose surnames begin with the letter "Z. " One set
of books shall be used in each of the polling places desig-
nated as provided for in this section. All the members of
the Boards of Supervisors of the counties or the City of
Baltimore, as the case may be, shall sign their names to
the books which contain the names copied from the original
books for such polling places in the hands of said super-
visors, and shall duly certify that such sets of books so
copied contain all the names of the persons entitled to vote
in such election precinct or district, such said certificate
shall appear on the blank line next following the last name
in each letter of the alphabetical list of names in the new
books so transcribed, and such said certification shall be
attested by the clerk of the respective Boards of Super-
visors. The la"W with respect to notice of the location of
polling places shall apply to those established under the
provisions of this section. It shall be the duty of the Boards
of Supervisors to locate the polling places in any one pre-
cinct as close together as possible, so as to minimize any
inconvenience to voters. Provided, that the Boards of
Supervisors of Elections of Montgomery County and of
Anne Arundel County, respectively, may, in their discre-
tion, so divide the list of voters at any polling place in any
election district or in any precinct in any election district
in Montgomery County and in Anne Arundel County in
such manner that each set of books shall contain approxi-
mately the same number of names of voters thereon and
toward that end may adopt any division of the first letters
of the surnames of such voters which the said Boards of
Supervisors of Elections of Montgomery County and of
Anne Arundel County may deem necessary.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1936.
