sons, no one of whom shall directly or indirectly receive
any compensation for services, nor be interested in any
contract relating to said hospital or the supplies thereof.

4. ' The persons named in Section 1, or such of them
as accept this appointment, and such other persons as they
may in accordance with the by-laws of the said Corporation
appoint, shall be the trustees of the said corporation, and
shall have power to make by-laws, not inconsistent with
law, and to alter the same; to fill vacancies which
may occur in their number by non-acceptance, death, res-
ignation or otherwise; to appoint all necessary physicians,
surgeons, assistants, stewards, nurses and servants, and
to fix their compensation and to discharge them whenever
they shall deem it expedient to do so; to make all needful
rules and regulations for the government of their proceed-
ings and for the admission of persons to said hospital. And
if at any time all of said trustees shall have died, removed
from the county, resigned or have become incapacitated to
discharge the duties of trustees as required by this Act
and there shall remain no one in being to continue succes-
sion as herein provided for, the Judge or Judges of the
Circuit Court for Washington County are hereby author-
ized to select trustees, who shall have all the powers herein
conferred for the control of the affairs of said association
and for continuing the succession of trustees in perpetuity;
the purpose being by this means to maintain in perpetuity
a complete governing body of trustees for the said "The
Washington County Hospital Association. "

5. A majority of all the trustees shall constitute a
quorum for the transaction of business, and said board may
appoint from their number a president, a vice-president,
treasurer, secretary and such other officers as such board
may deem necessary, in the manner, at the time, and for
the term to be prescribed in the by-laws; every trustee
of said corporation, before proceeding to act shall qualify
by taking the test oath required by the Constitution and
laws of the State of Maryland, a certificate of which quali-
fication shall be recorded on the minutes of the proceed-
ings of the board of trustees.

6. The said board of trustees are hereby authorized
and empowered to enter into contracts with the County
Commissioners of Washington County, and the Mayor and
