tract with the Washington County Historical Society to
contribute a sum of money not exceeding ten thousand
dollars ($10, 000. 00) to Washington County Historical
Society, and. to levy taxes sufficient to provide the
amount required by such contract.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section "be and it is hereby added to
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
(1930 Edition), title, "Washington County, " to be under
sub-heading, "Washington County Historical Society, " said
new section to be known as Section 806A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 806 of said Article, and to read as
follows:

806A. The County Commissioners of Washington
County are hereby authorized and empowered, in their dis-
cretion, to enter into a contract with the Washington
County Historical Society to contribute a sum of money
not exceeding Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000. 00) to
Washington County Historical Society, for the purpose of
sponsoring, aiding and assisting said Society in the observ-
ance during the year 1937, of the triple anniversaries of
the settling of Washington County, the founding of Hagers-
town, and the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam,
upon such terms and conditions as to the County Commis-
sioners of Washington County may seem proper. The said
County Commissioners of Washington County are hereby
authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to levy and
collect on the assessable property of said Washington
County a sum of money sufficient to meet the obligations
that may be incurred by the said County Commissioners
of Washington County, under the provisions of this Section.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1, 1936.
