Extraordinary Session of 1949
MARYLAND, Sct.:
At an Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly of
Maryland, begun and held in the City of Annapolis,
on the Seventeenth day of December, 1949, and
ending on the Seventeenth day of December, 1949,
the Honorable Wm. Preston Lane, Jr., being Gov-
ernor of the State, the following laws were enacted,
to wit:
CHAPTER 1
(Senate Bill 1)
AN ACT to authorize the creation of a State debt in the
aggregate amount of Fifty Million Dollars ($50,000,000.00),
the proceeds thereof to be used to supplement the financing
of the construction of public school buildings and public
school facilities by each of the Counties of this State
and by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore; the
acquisition of such real estate or interest in lands as
may be necessary in connection therewith by each of
the Counties of this State and by the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore; providing generally for the issuance
and sale of certificates of indebtedness evidencing such
loan; providing for the method by which the financial
assistance for the construction of public school buildings
and public school facilities and the purchase of public
school lands is to be afforded to each of the Counties of
this State and to the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more; making an emergency appropriation from the gen-
eral surplus of the State Treasury for the fiscal year end-
ing June 30, 1950, in the amount of Four Million Dollars
($4,000,000) to be used for purposes for which said debt
is created, pending settlement for and receipt of the pro-
ceeds of the issuance and sale of the first group of certifi-
cates evidencing said State debt; providing for the repay-
ment of said appropriation; and providing for the levy of
taxes to pay the interest on and principal of said State
debt.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Board of Public Works is hereby authorized
