CHAPTER 7
(House Bill 2)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
289 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land and Baltimore City Charter (1949 Edition), title
"Baltimore City", subtitle "Orphans7 Court", as said sec-
tion was amended by Chapter 599 of the Acts of 1949, re-
lating to the compensation of the bailiffs of the Orphans'
Court of Baltimore City.

SECTION 1. Be It enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 289 of Article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1949
Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Orphans7 Court",
as said section was amended by Chapter 599 of the Acts of
1949, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

289. On and after January 1, 1950, the Bailiffs of the said
Orphans' Court of Baltimore City shall receive a salary of
not less than Thirty-three Hundred Dollars ($3,300.) nor
more than Thirty-eight Hundred Dollars ($3,800.) per an-
num, payable in monthly installments at the end of each
and every month by the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more, said salary to be determined and certified to by the
Judges of the Orphans' Court of Baltimore City.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

of Public Works to be used by said Board in supplementing
appropriations made in the budget for the fiscal year end-
ing June 30, 1950, to the State Department of Public Wel-
