Resolved by the House of Delegates of Maryland, That the House
of Delegates urges that the Congress of the United States initiate
and finance a scientific research by the proper agency of the Gov-
ernment into the diseases of heart disease, cancer, tuberculosis,
poliomyelitis and the ravages of the common cold, and that this
humane project be launch immediately; and be it further
Resolved, That this Resolution be spread upon the Journal of the
House and that the Chief Clerk be and lie is hereby directed to send
a copy thereof to the President of the United States, the President
of the United States Senate and the Speaker of the House of Repre-
sentatives.

HOUSE EESOLUTION.
By Mr. J. W. A. Evans:
WHEREAS, a number of employees of the State of Maryland resid-
ing on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, find it necessary to use the
Chesapeake Bay Ferry weekly and in a number of instances, daily,
in going to and from their places of employment; and
WHEREAS, the fares thus paid cut heavily into their compensation
and because of the high rates, prohibits the use of their automo-
biles, thus causing them to use the bus and creating an additional
expenditure for bus fares; and
WHEREAS, the Chesapeake Bay Ferry System is owned by the
State of Maryland and operated by its State Roads Commission; and
WHEREAS, all known railroads, bus lines and others engaged in
the transportation business extend to their employees the privilege
of free transportation on their facilities; it is hereby
Resolved, That in the opinion of this body a similar privilege
should be extended to employees of the State of Maryland, and it is
further
Resolved, That the State Roads Commission of Maryland be, and
is hereby, authorized and directed to grant employees of the State
of Maryland free transportation for their persons and automobiles
over the Chesapeake Bay Ferry System, while such employees are
traveling to and from their places of employment.
