not less than fifty dollars nor more than one hundred dollars
as a consideration for their attention to the public property
and grounds and the improvements of the streets through said
town used as public highways, and levy for the same like other
county charges.

SEC. 37. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts
of Acts inconsistent herewith be and they are hereby repealed.

SEC. 38. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1929.

CHAPTER 39.

AN ACT to provide for the immediate redemption of all of

the unredeemed certificates of indebtedness of the "Susque-

hanna Bridge Loan of 1922. "


WHEREAS, Certificates of indebtedness, in the aggregate
amount of Five hundred and eighty-seven thousand dollars
($587, 000. 00), were issued by the State of Maryland, pursuant
to the provisions of Chapter 494 of the Acts of 1922, whereby
the loan known as the "Susquehanna Bridge Loan of 1922" was
created; and

WHEREAS, All of the said certificates of indebtedness were
purchased by the State of Maryland with funds in the "State
Sinking Fund"; and

WHEREAS, Series A, Series B, Series C, Series D and Series
E of said certificates of indebtedness, in the aggregate amount
of Two Hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250, 000. 00),
have been redeemed at their respective maturity dates; and

WHEREAS, The State of Maryland now holds and owns the
balance of the said certificates of indebtedness; and

WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds in the "Retirement
Fund" of the said "Susquehanna Bridge Loan of 1922" to
permit the immediate redemption of the balance of said certifi-
