SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws and parts
of laws in conflict with this Act, be and the same are hereby
repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.

Approved April 11, 1929.

CHAPTER 292.

AN ACT to add a new section to the Charter of the town of
Laurel, Prince George's County, Maryland, as the same was
enacted by Chapter 695 of the Acts of 1912 and subsequent
amendments thereto; said new section to come immediately
after Section 230 and to be known as Section 230½, pro-
viding that, the Mayor and City Council may become a pur-
chaser at its own tax sale and may thereafter sell any prop-
erty so purchased at private sale in its discretion for an
amount not less than the taxes, and assessments levied against
said property and the costs of the original tax sale thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That a new section be added to the charter of the
town of Laurel, as enacted by Chapter 695 of the Acts of
1912, and subsequent amendments thereto, said new section to
come immediately after Section 230 and to be known as Sec-
tion 230½, and to read as follows:

230½. The Mayor and City Council of Laurel may pur-
chase at the public sale held on or before the third Monday in
February in each year under the provisions of Section 227 any
property offered for sale for taxes or assessments in default for
an amount not exceeding the taxes and assessments against said
property and the costs of said sale, and in case of such pur-
chase, the provisions of Sections 227, 228, 229 and 230 as to
purchasers of such property shall apply to the said Mayor and
City Council, except that the Mayor and City Council shall
credit itself with the purchase price instead of paying the
same as provided for other purchasers under Section 228, and
if the property so sold to it shall not be redeemed at the
expiration of one year and a day from the day of sale, the
