City, " sub-title "Matrons at the Stations Houses, " said
amendments to raise the salary of matrons.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 768 of Article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1927 Edition of said Article), title
"Baltimore City, " sub-title "Matrons at the Station Houses, "
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments
to read as follows:
768. Each of said matrons, and substitute matrons when
employed, shall receive a salary of thirty-five dollars per week
and the Superintendent of Matrons a salary of thirty-seven
dollars and fifty cents per week to be paid by the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore and it shall be included in the
annual estimate of expenses by the said Police Commissioner
certified by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1929.

CHAPTER 288.
AN ACT to supplement Chapter 706 and Chapter 479 of the
Acts of 1927 of the General Assembly of Maryland; to
authorize the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland,
Maryland, to levy a general tax to secure the payment of
the notes authorized by Chapter 706 of the Acts of 1927;
to issue notes to the amount of Twenty-Five Thousand
($25, 000. 00) Dollars, payable in not more than six years,
to be known as Flood Prevention Notes of 1929, and to
sell said notes and to use the proceeds thereof for the pur-
pose of planning, devising and putting into effect certain
flood prevention plans, and to provide for the collection of
money for the payment of said notes by general and special
tax assessments.
WHEREAS, it has been made to appear that the Mayor and
City Council of Cumberland, Maryland, pursuant to the
authority granted it by Chapter 479 and Chapter 706 of the
