ing been amended by Chapter 233 of 1914, and Section 231
by Chapter 207 of 1924, be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments, and that one new section be and
it is hereby added to said Article, to be known as Section
241S, to follow immediately after Section 241R, and all to
read as follows:

225. There shall be at least one registration day not later
than 7 days before the election of Burgess and Commissioners,
and all persons who possess the same qualifications required of
voters to vote in State and County elections and have resided
within the corporate limits of the town of Hancock for twelve
months next preceding the election shall be eligible to be regis-
tered. The voters of the town of Hancock so registered shall
elect by ballot on the first Monday of April, 1929, and upon
the same day in every second year thereafter, three persons not
under twenty-five years of age, citizens of the United States,
and registered voters of the State of Maryland, County of
Washington and town of Hancock, and residents of said town
for two years next preceding the election, to be Commissioners
of Hancock.

And on the first Monday in April, 1929, and upon the same
day in every second year thereafter, in the same manner there
shall be elected two persons, having the same qualifications as
herein prescribed for Commissioners of Hancock, one person
to be Burgess, and one person to be Assistant Burgess. All the
officers duly elected as above shall serve until their successors
shall be legally elected and duly qualified, and shall exercise
all the powers and. perform all the functions upon them re-
spectively conferred by law.

231. The Burgess, Assistant Burgess and Commissioners
shall each qualify as such before a Justice of Peace or a
Notary Public, for Washington County, making oath that they
will discharge the duties of their respective offices, according
to the best of their skill and judgment, without fear, favor
or partiality to any person; a copy of which oath, with a
certificate of the Justice of the Peace or Notary Public ad-
ministering the same, shall be entered upon the Journal of
the Corporation; and the Burgess for his services shall receive
ten dollars each month and three dollars for each meeting of
Burgess and Commissioners attended by him, and the Assist-
ant Burgess and Commissioners shall each receive three dollars
for each and every regular and special meetings attended by
