CHAPTER 199.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the President and Commis-
sioners of Princess Anne, in Somerset County, State of Mary-
land, a municipal corporation, to continue the operation of
the system of water supply and distribution in said Town and
to charge and collect rentals for supplying water to the in-
habitants of said Town and to authorize said President and
Commissioners to borrow on the promissory note of said
municipal corporation, a sum not exceeding Five Thousand
Dollars, to pay the cost of certain improvements and exten-
sions heretofore made by said President and Commissioners,
to the said system of water supply and distribution in said
Town of Princess Anne; and to provide for a referendum
thereon.
WHEREAS, the President and Commissioners of Princess Anne
have for many years owned and operated a system for the sup-
ply and distribution of water in the Town of Princess Anne
and to furnish fire protection for said Town; and
WHEREAS, during the year 1928 the said water supply became
insufficient for the sanitary needs of said Town and insufficient
to furnish adequate fire protection for said Town; and
WHEREAS, the said President and Commissioners of Princess
Anne during said year, under the authority of the State Board
of Health of Maryland, proceeded to increase and enlarge the
said water supply by sinking additional wells and erecting and
equipping an additional pumping station in said Town, the cost
of which said extensions, additions and improvements amounted
to Forty-seven Hundred Dollars; and
WHEREAS, some further expenditures are necessary to com-
plete said additions to said water supply. Now, therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the President and Commissioners of Princess Anne,
be and they are hereby authorized to hold and possess for cor-
porate purposes, all the property and equipment constituting
the water supply and distribution system in the Town of
Princess Anne, which have been purchased and installed from
time to time by said President and Commissioners of Princess
Anne, and to continue the operation of said system to supply the
inhabitants of the Town of Princess Anne with water and to
keep available sufficient water for fire protection in said Town
and to charge and collect from the said inhabitants of said Town,
such rentals for the use of water supplied to such inhabitants,
as to the said President and Commissioners may seem fair and
reasonable, either upon a meter rate or upon a flat charge per
opening or spigot or by a combination of the two methods, the
