as hereinbefore provided, from funds appropriated for the
maintenance of roads and bridges in the State highway system,
provided the State of West Virginia shall pay the other half.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the State Roads
Commission of Maryland be and it is hereby authorized and
empowered to enter into any and all agreements not incon-
sistent with this Act, deemed by it necessary to carry out the
purposes thereof, both for acquiring and erecting such bridges
and approaches, paying therefor, and for the repair, operation
and maintenance thereof, provided there shall be incorporated
in such agreement with the State of West Virginia a covenant
on its part that no effort will at any time be made by the
State of West Virginia or any sub-division thereof to levy,
assess or collect any tax upon the interest or title of the State
of Maryland or any political sub-division thereof in either
such bridges or the approaches thereto.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1, 1929.

CHAPTER 116.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
212B of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
Edition of 1924, title "Licenses, " sub-title "Gasoline Tax, "
as enacted by Chapter 118 of the Acts of 1927, to regulate
the method of disbursement of the "Lateral Road Gasoline
Tax Fund. "
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 212B of Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, Edition of 1924, as enacted by Chapter
118 of the Acts of 1927, be, and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
212B. On and after the first day of April, 1927, the license
tax in respect of motor vehicle fuels, prescribed by this sub-
title, shall be increased one and one-half cents per gallon. The
