SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.

CHAPTER 575.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
138B of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Kent County, " sub-title "Justices of the
Peace and Constables, " as said section was amended by
Chapter 411 of 1904, increasing the compensation of the
Police Justice of Chestertown.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 138B of Article 15 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Kent County, " sub-title
"Justices of the Peace and Constables, " as said section was
amended by Chapter 411 of 1904, be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

138B. The said Police Justice of Chestertown, or Fourth
Election District, shall receive as compensation for his services
the sum of $600 per annum, or the proportionate part thereof,
so long as he may continue to act as such police justice in
said Fourth Election District, and the said police justice of
the First Election District shall receive as compensation for his
services the sum of $200 per annum or the proportionate part
thereof, so long as he shall continue to act as such police justice
in the said First Election District; said salaries to be paid by
the County Commissioners of Kent County, in equal quarterly
instalments, and said salaries shall be in full compensation
for all services required of them under this Act. And no
justice of the peace so selected for police justice shall be
permitted to charge any fee or receive a gratuity for making
any commitment, granting any release, or for the perform-
ance of any duty required by the law in criminal cases.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.
