CHAPTER 472.

AN ACT to authorize Henry W. Higdon and Eva B. Higdon,
his wife, to adopt Annie May McMahan as their own child,
conferring upon her all the rights as to care, maintenance
and inheritance she would have had she been born in lawful
wedlock.

WHEREAS, the said Henry W. Higdon and Eva B. Higdon,.
of Frederick County, having fully considered the legal respon-
sibilities that would result from the adoption of Annie May
McMahan who has been reared in their home and is now twenty-
seven years of age as their daughter, do hereby formally agree
to adopt the said Annie May McMahan as their daughter, de-
siring to confer upon her by this legal adoption all such rights
as do and would pertain to a child born in lawful wedlock.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Annie May McMahan is hereby declared to be
the adopted daughter of Henry W. Higdon and Eva B. Higdon,
with all the rights, responsibilities, duties and with the same
rights of inheritance as had she been born in lawful wedlock.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the name of the said
Annie May McMahan be changed to Annie May Higdon.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1929.

Approved April 11, 1929.

CHAPTER 473.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 88A of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "State Aid and
Charities, " said new section to be under the sub-title "Pro-
hibited Acts, " to be known as Section 32 and to follow im-
mediately after Section 31 of said Article, restricting the
sale of perishable vegetable produce grown by any state penal
institution or any institution, of a penal or reformatory
nature, receiving State aid.
