whose land the said road shall pass, or his, her or their guardian or trustee, shall conceive them-
selves aggrieved by such valuation and assessment of damages by the said president and managers, it
shall and may be lawful for the said president and managers, or any two of them, to issue their war-
rant to the sheriff of the county aforesaid, commanding him to summon twelve freeholders in the
county aforesaid, and not interested in the premises, and qualified to serve as jurors in the county
court, to appear on a day by them to be appointed on the premises, and the said president and ma-
nagers, or any one of them, are hereby authorised to administer an oath or affirmation, as the case
may be, to every person so summoned, that he will, without favour, affection, partiality or preju-
dice, assess the damages sustained by the person or persons at whose request such inquisition shall
be taken by reason of opening the aforesaid road through his, her or their land, and the persons so
summoned and so qualified, shall thereupon proceed to assess and value the damages accordingly, of
which the said president and managers, or some one of them, shall have given at least ten days no-
tice, and such inquisition shall be final and conclusive between the parties, and in assessing the da-
mages the jury shall take into consideration the conveniences and inconveniencies, the advantages
and disadvantages, if any, arising to the proprietors of the land over which the said road may pass.

CXXVIII.

An ACT to authorise and empower the Levy Court of Baltimore
County to assess and levy a sum of Money for the support and
maintenance of John Boy er, Thomas Fowler, and Isabella Fowler
his Wife.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the levy court of Baltimore county
shall be and they are hereby directed and empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as
they shall see cause, to assess and levy, on the assessable property of said county, a sum of money,
not exceeding ninety dollars, for the support and maintenance of the said John Boyer, Thomas Fow-
ler, and Isabella Fowler his wife, and that the same be collected annually by the collector or collec-
tors of Baltimore county, and thirty dollars thereof paid to each of the said persons, or to his or
her order.
CHAP. CXXX.

Au ACT to empower Jason Moore to sell and convey certain Lands
therein mentioned.

WHEREAS Jason Moore, guardian of Sophia, Nancy and Amelia Moore, devisees of James
Bond, late of Harford county, and minors, hath represented to this general assembly, that
the said Sophia, Nancy and Amelia Moore, did, by a decree of the chancery court, bearing date the
twenty second day of October, in the year eighteen hundred and six, recover against a certain Buck-
ler Bond parts of two tracts of land, called Poplar Neck and Joshua's Meadows Enlarged, containing
in the whole about one hundred and twenty acres; that the said children have no other resources
for their support except the said land, which is at this time, and has been ever since their recovery
of it, in an unimproved and unproductive state; that the said land is too small in quantity to be di-
vided to advantage among the children, and that a sale would be highly advantageous to them, and
hath prayed that the same may be sold; and the prayer of the petitioner aforesaid appearing, reason-
able, therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly cf Maryland, That Jason Moore, of Harford county,
guardian of Sophia, Nancy and Amelia Moore, be and lie is hereby authorised and empowered, to
sell and convey, under such restrictions and directions as the orphans court of said county shall lay
and give, the parts of two tracts of land, called Poplar Neck and Joshua's Meadows Enlarged, con-
taining, in the whole one hundred and sixty acres, belonging to the said minors; provided, that no
bargain for a sale shall be binding, and no conveyance good and valid, unless the sale made by the
said Jason Moore shall be approved of by the orphans court of said county.

An ACT to appoint Commissioners to grade and level the several
Streets, Squares, Lanes and Alleys, in the Precincts of Baltimore,

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry owners of pro-
perty in the precincts of the city of Baltimore, west of Jones's Falls, the public good, and
the convenience of the inhabitants, would be greatly benefitted by the appointment of commissioners
