NOVEMBER. LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP.
LXXVII.

V. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners shall be entitled to receive a compensa-
tion for their attendance and services, in discharge of their duties of this act, not exceeding one
dollar and fifty cents, to be ascertained by the levy court, which is hereby directed to be levied, col-
lected and paid, as other county charges are levied, collected and paid.

CHAP. LXXVIII.

Passed 6th of
Jan. 1810.

An ACT to open a Road to Swan Creek, in Harford County, and to
make a public landing place thereat.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Paca Smith, Jacob Michael and James
M'Clasky, be, and they, or a majority of them, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out
a road in Harford county, not exceeding two perches in width, beginning for the same near the place
where the road leading from Boothby's Hill Intersects the road leading from Josias C. Hall's cross
roads to Bush river neck, thence to the division line of two tracts of land called The Glebe and Sid-
ney Park, thence bounding on the division line to the south to Swan creek.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the commissioners aforesaid, or a majority of them, are hereby
authorised and directed to lay out a quantity of ground, not exceeding three fourths of an acre, for
a public landing place, at the end of said road, bounding on the same and the waters of Swan creek,
in such manner as they may think most conducive to the public benefit; and the said commissioners,
or a majority of them, are hereby required to return a plot of said road and landing place to the
clerk's office of Harford county, there to be recorded, together with an estimate of the damages, if
any, sustained by any person or persons whose land may be thus taken, laid out and appropriated,
for a road and public landing place, and the levy court of said county shall, at their next meeting;
after the return of said plot and estimate of damages, if any, by warrant under their hand and seals,
appoint an overseer to open and clear said road, agreeably to said plot, in the same manner as other
roads are opened and cleared, and the overseer shall have the same allowance for his services as
other overseers in said county.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the levy court of Harford county are hereby empowered and di-
rected, to assess and levy such sum of money as they, in their judgment, shall deem necessary, to
open and clear said road, and also the amount of such damages, if any, sustained by any person or
persons whose land may be thus taken and appropriated, which sums of money shall be levied, col-
lected and paid over, as other county charges are levied, collected and paid.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said road and landing place when laid out, opened and clear-
ed, under the provisions of this act, shall be a public road and landing place, and said road shall be
amended and kept in repair as other public roads in said county; and the commissioners hereby ap-
pointed shall have an allowance of two dollars for each day they shall attend in discharge of the
duties herein required.
CHAP. LXXIX.

Jan. 1810.

An ACT authorising George Creager, Junior, late Sheriff of Fre-
derick County, to complete his Collection.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That George Creager, junior, late sheriff of
Frederick county, be and he is hereby authorised and empowered to collect, until the first day'
of December, eighteen hundred and ten, all balances due him on account of officers fees, as sheriff
of Frederick county, in the same manner as he could or might have done within the time limitted by
law, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said George Creager, junior, before he derives any benefit
from or under this act, shall lodge his collection books, or a copy thereof, in the clerk's office of
Frederick county, for the inspection of all persons interested in the same.

CHAP. LXXX.

An ACT to incorporate a Company for the purpose of building a
Bridge over the River Susquehanna, at Havre-de-Grace.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly cf Maryland, That William Smith, William Patterson and
Mark Pringle, for the city and county of Baltimore, John Moores, Henry Dorsey, Thomas A.
Hayes, Roger Boyce, Samuel Jay and William B. Stokes, for Harford county, and James Sewell,
Alexander Scott, John S. Moffitt, Daniel Sheredine, Samuel Hogg, Littleton Gale, doctor William
