NOVEMBER. LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP.
CLXXXII.

good and sufficient deed of bargain and sale, all the right, title and estate, of Elizabeth Anne Wil-
son Gale and Henry Gale, minors, and heir's of Levin Gale, late of Somerset county, deceased, to
a certain ten acres of land, part of a tract of land called Might have had More, situate, lying and
being, in Somerset county, at the lower ferry on Wiccomico river, also an annuity arising out of the
said ten acres of land, and also a passway through a certain lot of land, sold by a certain Robert
Gale, late of the said county, deceased, to a certain Henry Jones, agreeable to the tenor of a bond
from the said Levin Gale to the said George Robertson, dated the second day of September, eighteen
hundred, with a penalty of sixteen hundred dollars, compelling him, the said Levin Gale, and his
heirs, to convey, in fee-simple, the said ten acres of land, also the said annuity, and also the said
passway above mentioned.

CHAP. CLXXXIII.

A Further additional Supplement to an Act, entitled, An Act to re-
gulate and discipline the Militia of this State.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the term of twelve months, mentioned
in the fourth section of the act to which this is a further additional supplement, within which
each dragoon and each artillerist were to arm and equip themselves in the manner therein prescribed,
be and the same is hereby extended to the first day of December, eighteen hundred and twelve.

CHAP. CLXXXIV.

Jan. 1810.

An ACT to lay out and open a Road in Caroline County.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of sundry inhabitants of
Caroline county, that they suffer great inconvenience for want of a road to commence at or
near James Pearce's, and running in the straightest direction that the nature of the ground and other
circumstances will admit, until it intersects a road at or near Bullock-town, in Caroline county;
therefore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That fames Pearce, James Clemmons,
William Start, William Hardcastle and Richard Swift, be and they are hereby appointed commis-
sioners to lay out, survey, mark and bound, a public road in said county, not exceeding twenty five
feet wide, at the expense of the petitioners, beginning at or near James Pearce's, and running through
the lands of said Pearce, and others, to intersect the road at or near Bullock-town, in such direction
as the nature of the ground, and conveniences of the landholders over which the same may run, will
admit; provided, that the said road shall not be laid out through the lands of any individual with-
out his, her or their consent, in writing, first had and obtained.

III. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said commissioners, or a majority of them, are hereby direct-
ed to return a plot of said road, when surveyed, marked and laid out, as aforesaid, to the clerk of
the county court, to be by him recorded; which road, when laid out, cleared and made passable, and
received by two justices of the peace, to be appointed by the levy court of the county aforesaid,,
shall be deemed and taken as a public road for ever thereafter, and shall be kept up and repaired as
ail other public roads in said county are.

CHAP. CLXXXV.

Jan. 1810.

An ACT to open a Road in Frederick County.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That James Pearea, John Nichodemus and
Elie Dorsey, (of Elie, ) be and they are hereby appointed commissioners, and they, or a majori-
ty of them, are hereby authorised, as commissioners, to lay out and open, at the expense of said
county, a road, not exceeding thirty feet wide, from John Ungefear's blacksmith shop, on the old
road leading from Liberty-town to Baltimore, to intersect the Baltimore and Reister's-town turnpike
road at or near the west end of Westminster, so as to do as little injury as possible to the owner or
owners of lands through which the said road may pass; "and the said road, when so laid out and com-
pleted, shall be recorded among the records of said county, and be thereafter deemed and taken to
be a public road, and shall be kept in repair as other roads in said county are directed to be.

CHAP. CLXXXVI.

Passed 7th of
Jan. 1810.

An ACT for the relief of Sophia Bland.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Sophia Bland be and she is hereby au-
thorised and empowered to remove, import and bring into this state, at any time within one
year after the passage of this act, such slave or slaves as she may now have a bona fide absolute right
