every One hundred ($100. 00) Dollars worth of assessable
property for the purpose of maintaining the Fire Depart-
ment of said City.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That an additional section is hereby added to
Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws entitled "Allegany

County, " sub-title "Frostburg, " to follow Section 145 and
to be designated as Section 145-A.

Section 145-A. In addition to the powers of taxation given
the Mayor and Councilmen of Frostburg by Section 145, the
Mayor and Councilmen may also levy and collect such an
additional tax not exceeding in any one year five (5c) cents
on each One Hundred ($100. 00) Dollars worth of assessable
property of said City as may be necessary for the purpose of
purchasing and maintaining fire fighting equipment for the
use of the Frostburg Fire Department and for general mainte-
nance of the said Frostburg Fire Department. All moneys
realized from said tax shall be kept by the Mayor and Council-
men in a special fund to be known as the Fire Department
fund and shall be used for no other purpose other than those
herein specified. All payments out of said fund to said Fire
Department shall be within the discretion of the Mayor and
Councilmen of Frostburg.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed upon a "Yea" and "Nay" vote supported
by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 51.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and Council of
Crisfield, in the State of Maryland, to issue bonds to an
amount not exceeding Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20, -
000. 00), for the purpose of erecting a new jail in said town
