SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1927.

CHAPTER 327.
AN ACT to add a new Section to Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, Edition of 1924, title "Licenses, " sub-
title "Gasoline Tax, " said new section to be known as Sec-
tion 212-A and to follow immediately after Section 212, to
provide for an increase of one-half cent per gallon in the
license tax in respect of motor vehicle fuels, the proceeds of
such additional tax to be used for the elimination of railroad
grade crossings; and to repeal Section 38 of Article 91, of
the Annotated Code of Maryland, Edition of 1924, title "Sur-
veyor and State Survey, " sub-title "Public Roads, " except in
so far as any rights or obligations may have accrued under
any contracts made in pursuance thereof; and to add ten new
sections to Article 91, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
of 1924, title "Surveyor and State Survey, " sub-title "Pub-
lic Roads, " said new sections to be known as Section 38-A,
38-B, 38-C, 38-D, 38-E, 38-E, 38-G, 38-H, 38-I, and 3 8-J,
and to follow immediately after Section 38 of said Article,
to provide for the elimination of railroad grade crossings,
to regulate the procedure therefor, and to provide for the
apportionment of the cost thereof, and for a division of the
expense of the maintenance and repair of all bridges, arch-
ways or culverts, including the approaches to such bridges,
archways or culverts, which may be required to be con-
structed in the elimination of such grade crossings.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be, and the same is hereby added
to Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, Edition of
1924, title "Licenses, " sub-title "Gasoline Tax, " said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 212-A, to follow immediately after
Section 212 of said Article, and to read as follows:
212-A. On and after the first day of April, 1927, the license
tax in respect of motor vehicle fuels, prescribed by this sub-
title, shall be increased one-half cent per gallon. The State
