his office that the tax collectors of the county taxes of Carroll
County now have; he shall, immediately upon the collection of
any monies for taxes, pay the same over to the clerk and treas-
urer of the corporation, and he shall be subject to suit on his
bond and criminal prosecution as the tax collectors of Carroll
County now are, and shall receive such compensation for his
services in collecting said taxes as shall be by ordinance of said
corporation provided.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That all laws or parts
of laws inconsistent with or repugnant to the provisions of
this Act be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent
of such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health or safety, and having
been passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 267.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Anne Arundel County to levy annually a sum of money
not exceeding Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15, 000. 00), a
year for the maintenance and support of the Fire Companies
of the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County are hereby authorized and empowered to levy annually
a sum of money not exceeding Fifteen Thousand Dollars
($15, 000. 00) a year for the maintenance and support of the
Fire Companies of the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel
County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts
of Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be and the
same are hereby repealed.
