title "County Commissioners, " be and the same are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as fol-
lows:

Section 130. That in case the person so elected shall dier
remove from the County or for any reason fail to execute
the bonds required by the preceding section on or before the
day prescribed for his entering upon the duties of his office,
the County Commissioners shall, as soon as possible declare
said office vacant, and in a reasonable time proceed to fill the
same by appointment of a suitable person possessing the quali-
fications herein prescribed, who shall serve for the term for
which the person so elected was elected. In the event of the
death, removal from the County, or removal from office of the
Treasurer, the County Commissioners shall in like manner de-
clare the office vacant and, within a reasonable time, fill the
same for the remainder of the term. That in the event of a
vacancy in the office of the County Treasurer, the County
Commissioners are authorized and empowered to designate one
of the Assistant County Treasurers hereinafter provided for
in Section 132, hereof, as Acting Treasurer and the said As-
sistant so designated shall forthwith enter upon and perform
any and all duties now performed by the Treasurer, provided
that such designation and appointment shall continue only for
such period as the office of County Treasurer shall remain
vacant.

Section 132. The County Commissioners of Montgomery
County, upon the recommendation of the Treasurer, shall ap-
point two Assistant Treasurers, one of whom shall receive
an annual salary of $2, 100, payable in monthly installments
of $175. 00, and the other shall receive an annual salary of
$1, 800. 00, payable in monthly installments of $150. 00 and
shall furnish such additional clerical assistants and at such
compensation as the County Commissioners may in their
discretion, deem necessary; and all assistants and all clerks
so appointed, shall take the oath of office prescribed by the
constitution of this State and shall execute such bond or bonds
as the County Commissioners may require; the premium on
said bonds to be levied for and paid out of County Funds
by the County Commissioners. That the Assistant Treasurer
or Treasurers, so appointed, or either of them, shall, upon
the written authority of the County Treasurer, do and per-
form any act or acts which could be legally performed by the
