CHAPTER 231.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commis-
sioners of Anne Arundel County to appoint two discreet
persons to be building inspectors and to give permits for
the construction and repair of buildings in said county,
and providing for their duties, powers and compensation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County are hereby authorized and empowered to appoint two
discreet persons to be building inspectors and to give permits
for the construction and repair of buildings in said county.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all persons, firms
or corporations shall, before erecting, constructing, or re-
modeling any building in said Anne Arundel County where
the actual cost of such construction or remodeling shall exceed
the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100), said person, per-
sons, firm or corporation shall make application to the build-
ing inspectors for a permit to erect, build, re-construct or
remodel any building within the limits of said county. The
application for the permit to build shall set forth in detail
the location of the land and the size and approximate cost of
the building. That said building inspectors shall be entitled
to charge and receive the sum of Two Dollars ($2) for each
permit so issued and the money received by said building
inspectors for the issuing of said building permit shall month-
ly be paid over to the County Treasurer and by the County
Treasurer paid over to said building inspectors after the
County Commissioners have carefully audited said bill. That
the permit so issued shall set forth the location of the land
upon which the said building is to be located together with
a description of the character of the proposed building and
the approximate cost of same and said permit shall be issued
in triplicate, one to the applicant and one for the building
inspector and one to be retained in the files of the office of
the County Commissioners. That it is the purpose and in-
tention of this Act to require all persons who contemplate
building, altering, constructing, re-constructing, remodeling
any and all buildings of any nature, kind and description,
before so doing, to obtain a permit from the said building
inspectors and if any person, firm or corporation shall pro-
ceed in the building, erecting, constructing, re-constructing
