shall receive any contribution by gift, bequest or otherwise for
the maintenance of said cemetery and for the care and preser-
vation of the same, the principal of said fund so set aside and
the principal sum of said contribution shall not be used by
the said corporation for the maintenance, care, preservation,
or extension of the said cemetery, but only the interest of pro-
ceeds arising from the investment of the same shall be so used.
SEC. 17. And be enacted, That the said corporation is here-
by authorized to make assignments of lots in said cemetery,
restricting interments in said lots as shall be provided in said
assignments.
SEC. 18. And be it enacted, That the said corporation be
and the same is empowered and authorized to acquire by con-
demnation, land adjoining its Cemetery, for the purpose of
sepulture, and for none other, not exceeding five acres, within
any five years; provided said corporation can not agree with
the owner or owners of the land, or if such owner or owners
or any of them be a feme covert without power to contract in
relation to said property, or under age, or non compos mentis,
or under any legal disability, or be absent from said County
when said land may be needed by the said corporation, ther
it may proceed to condemn and acquire the same in the man-
ner provided in Sections 248 and 253 both inclusive, of Article
23 of the Code of Public General Laws of this State.
SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 148.
AN ACT to authorize and empower The Mayor and Aldermen
of Frederick to borrow upon the faith and credit of said muni-
cipal corporation a sum of money not exceeding One Hundred
and Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars ($175, 000. 00) and to issue
and sell its serial coupon bonds therefor of the par value of
One Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars (175, 000. 00)
and to expend the proceeds arising therefrom for all or any
of the following purposes to-wit: (1) for the purpose of
providing payment for the laying out, extending, widening
and straightening, in whole or in part, of any of the streets,
lanes, or alleys, within the corporate limits of Frederick, (2)
for the purpose of acquiring, constructing and maintaining a
