CHAPTER 134.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact Sections 135-137 of Melvin's
Public Local Laws for Anne Arundel County, (1914) title
"Anne Arundel County, " sub-title "Brooklyn, " providing for
the appointment and compensation of police officers in the
Fifth Election District and Third Election District of said
county, as the same was enacted by Chapter 613 of the Acts
of 1902.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 135 of Melvin's Public Local Laws, (1914)
title "Anne Arundel County, " sub-title "Brooklyn, " as the
same was enacted by Chapter 613 of the Acts of 1902, be, and
the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:
SEC. 135. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel Coun-
ty are hereby directed to appoint five policemen for the better
protection of persons and property in Anne Arundel County;
which policemen shall be stationed, at the discretion of said
County Commissioners, at Glenburnie, Ferndale, Linthicum
Heights, first precinct of the Third Election District of Anne
Arundel County, and such other places in the Fifth Election
District of said county as the said commissioners may deem
proper; the policemen so appointed shall be under the control
and direction of the County Commissioners. The policemen ap-
pointed after the passage of this Act shall serve until the first
day of January 1928, and until their successors are duly ap-
pointed, and thereafter such appointment shall be made every
two years. The County Commissioners shall have power at any
time at their pleasure to suspend without pa$ or remove any
of the policemen so appointed for any inefficiency, neglect of
duty or violation of any of the rules of the force, and appoint
other officers in the place of any removed or suspended, or to
impose a reasonable fine for any breach of duty, to be deducted
from his pay; and in case of a necessity at any time for an in-
crease of such police force in the judgment of the County Com-
missioners for the preserving of the peace, they shall have the
power to temporarily appoint such additional police officers for
such length of time and at such compensation as in their dis-
cretion shall be required.
SEC. 137. The pay of each of the police officers shall be one
hundred ($100) dollars per month. The County Commission-
ers in making their levy shall provide for the payment of the
salary of said officers monthly. It shall be the duty of the Coun-
ty Commissioners to arm and equip said policemen and make
