SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1st, 1927.

CHAPTER 128.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 592,
594, 598 and 605 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments, "
sub-title "House of Reformation. "

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 592, 594, 598 and 605 of Article 27 of the
Annotated Code of Public General Laws be repealed and re-
enacted to read as follows:

592. Every person who is not now a member and who is
desirous of becoming a member of the body corporate, shall
make application to the Board of Managers and if elected by
a majority vote of the same, shall become a member upon
paying to the funds of the body corporate the sum of two
dollars, and shall continue to be a member while he continues
to contribute said sum annually, or if he prefers to pay $50. 00
in a lump sum or $10. 00 annually for the term of six years,
he shall be a member for life.

594. The members of the Association shall assemble on the
third Monday of February annually at such place in the City
of Baltimore, as the Board of Managers may from time to time
appoint, and of which the President or in the ease of his ab-
sence or refusal, the Secretary or any member of the Association
shall give notice by letter to each member or by publishing said
notice in at least two of the daily papers of the City of Balti-
more, and elect by a plurality of ballots, twelve managers.

598. The said managers shall 'appoint from their own body,
a president, a vice-president, a secretary and a treasurer, and
prescribe the duties of each.

605. The board of managers of the House of Reformation
shall have power, in their discretion, to take into said house all
such colored boys as shall be taken up and committed as street
beggars or vagrants, or for incorrigible or vicious conduct, or
shall be convicted for criminal offenses, or as hereinafter pro-
