1652 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland for the
first time in the history of the State undertook a visit of inspec-
tion to the counties of Western Maryland in order to secure
a better understanding of the matters and conditions of the
Western part of the State; and
WHEREAS, The trip of the members of the General Assembly
was made a source of pleasure as well as of instruction through
the co-operation and courtesy of the Hagerstown Chamber of
Commerce; now therefore be it
Resolved, That the thanks of the General Assembly of Mary-
land be and the same are hereby extended to the Hagerstown
Chamber of Commerce for its courtesy and thoughtfulness
manifested on the recent tour of the State by the General
Assembly.

A Joint Resolution on the death of the
Honorable John C. Rose.
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland has heard
with profound sorrow of the death of the Honorable John C.
Rose, Judge of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for
the Fourth Judicial Circuit; and
WHEREAS, Judge Rose was for many years a leader in the
State of Maryland among the forces of civic righteousness in
which he distinguished himself for his character, learning and
sound judicial temperament which he devoted to the service
of the community not only as a private citizen, but also as
United States District Attorney, United States District. Judge,
and, finally, as United States Circuit Judge; now therefore
be it
Resolved liy the General Assembly of Maryland, That by the
death of the Honorable John. C. Rose this State has been
bereft of one of its most prominent figures, the Bench of this
nation deprived of one of its outstanding jurists, and the com-
