1646 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, The trip of the members of the General Assembly
was made a source of pleasure as well as of instruction through
the co-operation and courtesy of the City of Cumberland, The
Chamber of Commerce and the County Commissioners of Alle-
gany County: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the thanks of the General Assembly of Mary-
land be and the same are hereby extended to the City of Cum-
berland, The Cumberland Chamber of Commerce and the
County Commissioners of Allegany County for their courtesy
and thoughtfulness manifested on the recent tour of the State
by the General Assembly.

A Joint Resolution authorizing and requesting the Governor
of Maryland to appoint a commission to be known as the
"Maryland Advertising Commission."
WHEREAS, The State of Maryland has splendid agricultural,
maritime and industrial resources which continually present
new opportunities for the development of the wealth of the
State and of all its citizens; and
WHEREAS, This State has within its boundaries an unrivaled
diversification of beautiful scenery, for the most part accessible
by improved highways, rail or water services; and
WHEREAS, Certain states and communities have found it
desirable, under modern conditions of competition, to advertise
their various resources and advantages with the object of at-
tracting not only thousands of visitors, but many permanent
residents, as well as new commercial and industrial enterprises;
now, therefore, be it
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to
appoint a Commission of five members, to serve without com-
pensation from the State of Maryland, to be known as the
Maryland State Advertising Commission," whose duty it shall
