tion or use of automobiles, and lieu of any and all expenses
now or heretofore allowed said Deputy Sheriffs by way of sal-
ary, fees or expenses. That said deputies shall hold office at
the pleasure of the Sheriff and shall be removed by said sheriff
at any time said sheriff may elect or by the Circuit Court for
Montgomery County, upon indictment and conviction as now
provided by law.

That it shall be the duty of the Sheriff of Montgomery
County to require said deputies to do and perform at any time
in any place in said county any service incident to the office
of deputy sheriff, which they may be by the sheriff ordered to
do and perform, and the deputies of the Sheriff of Montgom-
ery County shall not be entitled to demand or be paid any
further or other compensation for the rendition of any service
incident to their office than that such as is provided by this
Act.

Section 533-C. The sheriff of said County shall hold his
office at the Court House and shall attend at his said office at
all times, Sunday excepted, in person or by Deputy for the
transaction of business.

Section 533-D. It shall be the duty of the County Commis-
sioners to pay for all supplies and provisions necessary, in their
judgment for the support and maintenance of all persons com-
mitted to the jail, said supplies and provisions to be purchased
by the Sheriff and placed at said jail and the bills for same
shall be presented by the Sheriff to said County Commissioners
for approval and payment, provided however that the said
County Commissioners are hereby directed and prohibited from
approving or allowing the payment to the Sheriff of any claim
for food or provisions furnished for the keep and board of
prisoners where the amount claimed is in excess of thirty-five
cents per day, for each prisoner actually committed to the Jail
of said county, and the County Commissioners shall furnish
all fuel and light needed for said jail and shall annually levy
and pay to the warden of said jail such salary as the County
Commissioners may deem proper and commensurate, the war-
den to be appointed by the Sheriff and to be approved by the
County Commissioners, and the Sheriff shall have the author-
ity and power to appoint such assistants with the approval of
the County Commissioners as may be necessary, said assistants-
to be paid such salary as the County Commissioners may
direct.
