whether or not the provisions of this Act shall take effect, and
upon the ballots to be used at such election there shall be
printed or written the words "For Change in Tax Collection
Law" and "Against Change in Tax Collection Law," and if
a majority of the votes cast upon said question shall be "For
Change in Tax Collection Law" then the provisions of this
Act shall take effect; but if a majority of the votes cast upon
said question shall be "Against Change in Tax Collection
Law" then this Act shall be null and void and of no effect.

CHAPTER 710.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 533, 533-A, 533-B, 533-C, 533-D
and 534 of Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Montgomery County," sub-title "Sheriff,"
as amended by the Acts of Assembly, 1922, Chapter 406,
and to re-enact the same with amendments, providing for
the compensation and expenses of the sheriff and his depu-
ties and for the disposition of fines and costs by him col-
lected.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 533, 533-A, 533-B, 533-C, 533-D and
534 of Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title "Montgomery County," sub-title "Sheriff," as said
sections were repealed and re-enacted by Chapter 406 of the
Acts of Assembly, 1922, be and the same are hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:
Section 533. The Sheriff of Montgomery County shall re-
ceive an annual salary of the sum of Three Thousand Dollars,
to be paid to him in monthly installments of $250.00, by the
County Commissioners of Montgomery County, and he shall
be paid the further sum of Six Hundred Dollars per annum,
to be paid to him in monthly installments, for the expenses
incident to the operation of his automobile in performing the
duties of his office, which sum or sums shall be in lieu of all
expenses, fees or costs now or heretofore allowed the sheriff
of Montgomery County for expenses in carrying out the duties
of his office, including all expenses for transferring prisoners
