the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Queen Anne's
County, " subtitle "Roads, " as said Sections 230C, 230E and
230F were amended by Chapter 535 of 1924 and as Section 230D
was amended by Chapter 35 of 1910, be and they are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

2300. The County Commissioners, of Queen Anne's County,
on or before the first day of June, in the year nineteen hundred
and ten, shall appoint some competent person to be County
Road Engineer for Queen Anne's County, the said County Road
Engineer shall hold his office for the term of four years from,
the date of his appointment unless sooner removed for cause
and shall receive a salary not exceeding eighteen hundred dol-
lars per year, payable monthly; and every four years thereafter
or in case of vacancy in said office, as hereinafter provided, the
County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County shall appoint
some competent person to be County Road Engineer of said
county, and the said appointment shall be made without any
reference whatever to the political opinions of the persons so
appointed.

230D. The said County Road Engineer shall not be liable
to removal from office for any reason other than incompetency
or neglect of duty, and then upon the sworn complaint of ten or
more resident taxpayers of Queen Anne's County, to be filed
with the said County Commissioners.

230E. The County Road Engineer shall reside in Queen
Anne's County during, the term of his office. He shall in-
spect and pass upon all material purchased by the County
Commissioners to be used on the roads and bridges. He
shall not work out or expend on the roads and bridges of said
county a greater amount in any one fiscal year than the
amount levied by the County Commissioners for the purpose
without obtaining the permission in writing of said County
Commissioners. He shall appear before the County Com-
missioners at their first meeting in each and every month
and make a statement to them of the work done and money
expended. He shall examine and certify to the correctness of
all bills and accounts for any work done or materials furnished
on any of the public roads or bridges in Queen Anne's County,
before the same shall be paid by the County Commissioners;
and said County Commissioners shall make no payment, until
such accounts have been certified by said engineer. He shall
make out annually in writing, a detailed report to the County
Commissioners of all work done on the county roads and bridges
