CHAPTER 646.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 1
of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Justices of the Peace, " sub-title "Qualification, " so as to
require every Justice of the Peace to give bond in the amount
and form fixed by this Act, and to add a new section to said
Article to follow immediately after Section 1 of said Article,
to be known as 1-A, relating to the recording and proof of
said bonds.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 1 of Article 52 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, title "Justices of the Peace, " sub-title "Qualifi-
cation, " be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments, so as to read as follows:
1. Within thirty days after his commission shall have been
received in the clerk's office of the County or City, every Jus-
tice of the Peace shall take and subscribe the oaths and decla-
ration prescribed by the Constitution; and at the same time
every Justice of the Peace shall file with the Clerk of the Court
receiving his said commission a good and sufficient bond to the
State of Maryland with security to be approved by said Clerk
in the penalty of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) conditioned
that he will faithfully discharge, execute and perform all and
singular the duties and obligations of Justice of the Peace,
that he will truly account for and pay over to the proper State
officer or officers all money coming into his hands and belong-
ing to the State of Maryland at the times fixed by law for the
payment thereof, and that he will truly account for and pay
over to the person or corporation entitled to receive the same
all money belonging to such person or corporation which may
come into his hands; and upon his failure within the time
named to take and subscribe said oaths and declaration and
file said approved bond, his office shall be deemed vacant,
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That a new section be
added to said Article 52, to be known as Section 1-A, to fol-
low immediately after Section 1 of said Article and to read
as follows:
1-A. Every such justice shall at the time of filing his ap-
proved bond pay to the clerk his proper fees for recording the
same and the same shall be recorded by said clerk and a copy
