ALBERT C, RITCHIE, GOVERNOR. 1267

SEC. 147. Whenever the County Commissioners, after hav-
ing determined that the public convenience requires the opening,
altering or closing of a public road, and after having determined
upon the location which, in their opinion, will best promote the
public convenience, shall fail for any cause to contract with
the owner or owners of the land necessary for such road, or if
such owner or owners is or are non compos mentis or under
twenty-one years of age, they shall proceed to condemn said
land in the manner prescribed in Sections 331 to 337, inclusive,
of Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws of the State
of Maryland, and such jury of condemnation shall not only
consider the damages to such land-owner, but also the benefits
that may be derived by him, her or them, and render its verdict
accordingly.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all laws inconsistent with
the provisions of this Act be and the same are hereby repealed
so far as they relate to Frederick County.

CHAPTER 630.

AN ACT to repeal Section 28 of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Washington County, "
sub-title "Almshouse, " and re-enact the same with amend-
ments, increasing the compensation of the Trustees of the

Poor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 28 of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Washington County, " sub-title
"Almshouse, " be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enact-
ed with amendments so as to read as follows:

SEC. 28. The trustees may annually retain, out of the money
levied for their use, the sum of one hundred dollars each, as
compensation for their services.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1927.
