1241 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 613

CHAPTER 612.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the Police Commissioner of
Baltimore City to refund to former Sergeant Maurice E.
Pease, the amount which said Sergeant has paid into the
Special Fund for police pensions.

CHAPTER 613.

AN ACT to provide for the general re-indexing of the Land,
Mortgage, Equity, Judgment, Magistrate Judgment and
Plat Records of Montgomery County or such portion of
them as may be necessary, according to an approved modern
system.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, that the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Montgomery
County be and he is hereby authorized to make or cause to be
made a general index of the Land, Mortgage, Equity, Judgment,
Magistrate Judgment and Plat Records of Montgomery Coun-
ty, or such portion of them as may be necessary, according to
an approved modern system.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, that the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Montgomery County be and he is hereby
authorized to let on contract the execution of the work of re-
indexing as aforementioned as a whole, subject to the approval
of the Judges of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, that the costs of said
re-indexing be paid by the Clerk of the Circuit Court out of
the excess fees of his office for the fiscal year ending October
1st of the year in which the contract for said work is let and
out of the excess fees, of his office, for the two succeeding
fiscal years following the year in which said contract is let,
after the payment of all office expenses, and salary of said
Clerk and his deputies shall have been paid.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted that the said Clerk of
the 'Circuit Court be and he is hereby authorized together with,
a committee of the Montgomery County Bar Association, not
to exceed four members thereof, to investigate the various
