Assembly of Maryland increasing the allowance for office
expenses of the Sheriff of said County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 604 of Offutt's Code of Public Local
Laws of Baltimore County (Edition of 1916), sub-title
"Sheriff, " as said Section was amended by Chapter 93 of the
Acts of 1922 of the General Assembly of Maryland, increasing
the allowance for office expenses of the Sheriff of said County,
to read as follows:
604. The Sheriff of Baltimore County shall receive an
annual salary of Three Thousand Dollars" ($3000. 00) to be
paid to him in monthly installments of Two Hundred and
Fifty dollars ($250. 00) by the County Commissioners of
Baltimore County, and he shall be allowed the sum of nine
Thousand Dollars ($9, 000. ) annually to be paid to him
by the said County Commissioners in monthly installments,
for the expenses of his office, including Clerk and the neces-
sary deputies to assist in the discharge of his duties, and he
shall maintain out of said fund an automobile for the more
efficient service of writs and other business of the office, and
he shall be allowed the further sum of Three Hundred Dol-
lars ($300. 00) annually for transferring prisoners to and
from penal institutions and places of confinement in the
State of Maryland. He shall collect all fees and charges
to which he may be entitled by law and exercise all powers
conferred upon him by law to enforce the collection of the
same, and shall at the end of each month during his term of
office make a sworn report of same to the County Commis-
sioners of Baltimore County in such form as said Commis-
sioners may direct any pay over the same to the Treasurer of
Baltimore County upon the order of said Commissioners, and
whenever any sheriff shall retire from office, having uncol-
lected any costs, fees and charges lawfully payable to him,
his successors shall collect and pay over the same, and it shall
be the duty of the Sheriff to keep in his office in such books
as may be required an official record of the fees and charges
to be collected by him and those which shall have been col-
lected, and such books shall remain in his office after the
expiration of his term for the use of his successor.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1927.
