CHAPTER 524.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 93 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, title "Testamentary Law, " sub-title
"Guardian and Ward, " said new section to be known as
Section 153-A, and to follow immediately after Section
153, to provide for the institution of suits by the mothers
of infant children in their custody for torts committed
against such infants.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby added
to Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title "Testa-
mentary Law, " sub-title "Guardian and Ward, " said new sec-

tion to be known as Section 153-A, and to follow immediately
after Section 153, and to read as follows:

153-A. In any and all cases where a tort shall be alleged
to have been committed against any infant, and said infant is
in the custody of its mother, the mother, in the first instance
shall have the right to institute suit against the alleged tort
feasor or tort feasors for and on account of such alleged tort;
provided, however, that if the mother, within six months
after the commission of the alleged tort, shall have failed to
institute suit as aforesaid, then any person interested in said
child, after having first given notice to its mother, by regis-
tered mail at her last known address, shall have a right to
institute suit as next friend to such infant.

CHAPTER 525.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 9
of Article 75 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, title
"Pleadings, Practice and Process at Law. "

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 9 of Article 75 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, title "Pleadings, Practice and Process at Law, "
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments,
to read as follows:
