SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That, the County Com-
missioners of Prince George's County are authorized, empow-
ered and directed to appoint three or more, not exceeding six,
Constables at Large for Prince George's County on the recom-
mendation of the sheriff for this purpose, on the first Monday
in April, 1927, for a term of two years from the date of their
appointment, and they shall on the first Monday in April in
every second year thereafter, appoint on the recommendation
of the sheriff, three or more, not exceeding six, Constables at
Large for said County for a term of two years, who, together
with the sheriff and deputy sheriff, shall constitute the Prince
George's County Police; but before appointing said Constables
at Large, the said sheriff shall designate to said County Com-
missioners ten persons eligible for appointment, from which
list the said Board may select at least three, not exceeding six,
as in this Act provided, with the right to reject any or all
of the persons so designated by the sheriff; and should there re-
main to be appointed a number insufficient to constitute as many
of said Constables at Large as the County Commissioners desire
to be appointed, the County Commissioners shall themselves,
without further recommendation from the sheriff, complete the

appointments by the designation of such person or persons as to
them seem best fitted. And the County Commissioners shall
have at any and all times the power and authority to remove
any one or more of said Constables at Large, and so appointed,
at the pleasure of a majority of the Board, with, or without
notice; and to fill any vacancies that may occur for unexpired
terms in the manner hereinbefore prescribed for original ap-
pointments.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That, the Constables at
Large, and so appointed, shall each receive a salary not ex-
ceeding the sum of fifteen hundred dollars ($1, 500) per an-
num, payable monthly, and no other fees or compensation what-
soever, except however that in addition to the salary aforesaid
those so appointed at large shall each receive the sum of three
hundred dollars ($300) per annum, payable monthly, in lieu
of all other expenses to the County for the maintenance and
up-keep of a motorcycle or motor vehicle to be furnished by
the County Commissioners in such number as in their discre-
tion they may think necessary, as well as any expenses for uni-
forms that the sheriff as the Chief of Police may require to be
worn. Provided however that of the Constables at Large so
appointed by the County Commissioners they shall designate
