and to be known as Sections 886-G and 886-H, respectively,
and to be and read, respectively, as follows:

886-G. The Supreme Bench of Baltimore City shall ap-
point two additional persons of either sex to serve during its
pleasure, who shall be known as "Probation Officers for delin-
quent and dependent children." Each of the said persons
shall receive from the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore a
salary of Eighteen hundred dollars per annum, payable semi-
monthly. The said Probation Officers, herein provided for,
shall be subject to all the rules and regulations as provided and
set forth in Section 886-A of this Article.

886-H. The Magistrate for Juvenile Causes is hereby
authorized to appoint one additional person as Stenographer
and Typist to serve during his pleasure, who shall receive from
the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore a salary of Fifteen
hundred dollars per annum, payable semi-monthly. Said per-
son shall perform such duties as said magistrate may require.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 623-A of
said Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments
to read as follows:

623-A. In addition to the Justices of the Peace mentioned
in Section 623 of this Article, there shall be appointed by the
Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate,
and if the Senate shall not be in session, by the Governor,
from the City of Baltimore, at large, an additional Justice of
the Peace, to be known as the magistrate for juvenile causes,
who shall be a member of the bar of the Supreme Bench of
Baltimore City and shall receive from the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore a salary of three thousand dollars per
annum, payable monthly, and the jurisdiction and powers of
such justice shall be as follows: (1) He shall possess the
general powers of police justice of the peace or justice of the
peace selected to sit at a station-house in the City of Baltimore,
as the same are now or may hereafter be defined by law. (2)
He shall have exclusive jurisdiction where jurisdiction is
given by law to any justice of the peace in Baltimore City,
in all cases of trial or commitment for trial, or commitment
to any juvenile institution of any minor under the age of six-
teen years, and such magistrate shall sit at such times as may
