violations shall be prosecuted and punished under the law
heretofore in force.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, 1924.

CHAPTER 301.
AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of
Montgomery County to issue bonds for the permanent im-
provement of roads in the several Election Districts of said
County and prescribing the conditions under which such
bonds shall be issued.
WHEREAS, Montgomery County has expended over six hun-
dred thousand ($600, 000. ) dollars on the permanent improve-
ment of public roads during the past ten years; and
WHEREAS, some of the districts of said county do not have
as many miles of improved reads in proportion to assessable
property as other districts; and
WHEREAS, certain individuals are willing to make voluntary
contributions in order to secure improved roads in their er-
spective vicinities; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
be and they are hereby authorized to borrow on the faith and
credit of said county a sum of money not to exceed seventy-
five thousand ($75, 000. ) dollars in any one year, and to issue
coupon bonds in such sums as the County Commissioners may
direct, said bonds to bear interest from the date of issue there-
of, at a rate of not more than 5% per annum, payable semi-
annually, said bonds may be issued in series to mature at such
time or times as said Commissioners shall determine, provided
that none of them shall be for a longer period than twenty-five
years from the date of issue thereof; and said bonds shall have
printed on them a distinct reference to this Act authorizing
their issue, and be signed by the President of the Board of
County Commissioners of said County and by the Treasurer
of said County, but the coupons for the interest thereon may
be authenticated by the engraved, lithographed or printed sig-
nature of the President of said Board of County Commissioners.
